business travel

coffee, travel 1 Comment »

so, this past week, i went on my first official business trip. the goal was to travel to seattle and meet with some companies (microsoft, airbiquity) as “subject matter experts.” first off our trip to microsoft. working at microsoft must be freaking incredible. they have these machines that brew fresh, single cups of starbucks coffee. they are delicious. best freshest coffee ever. and they have every single beverage in a cooler on the face of the planet in each building. coke, diet, sprite, milks, juices, teas, everything. working there must be great, aside from the 12 hours a day thing.

either way, everywhere we went, the coffee was insanely delicious (it was seattle after all), the food was all catered from the most delicious of lunch places, and people were generally happy with the fact that our much larger company, was keeping their building’s lights on. that’s probably why they fed us so well while we were taking up space in their office. airbiquity’s office had a view of puget sound. elecktrobit’s office backed up to a mountain range. their furniture, equipment, computers, everything seemed better than my current job and location. i mean, it was 75 and sunny in seattle on thursday, and friday evening i had to get off the plane to an iced over detroit.

while i’m not a big “business” traveller, it was a great learning experience, and i learned that unless it’s for fun, i’m not really into living out of a suitcase.

i like having my own place to come home to each and everyday. that makes me really happy.

i love starbucks. there’s nothing like starting each and every friday with the drink of my choice…sometimes its a mocha, or a chai latte, or something seasonal, like egg nog latte, or pumpkin spice. either way, its all incredible and i love them.

thank you starbucks. you make fridays awesome.
